PHantasy in Blue" is a non-profit making project funded by the Royal Netherlands Air Force, which is producing exact 1:5 scale flying models of all the aircraft types that have been flown in the Roal Dutch Airforce. At the moment is does not include contemporary types, for example the F-16.
When the project is completed, in March 2003, there will be a total of 50 large scale flying models, including both propeller and jet powered aircraft. Each year the completed models are displayed and flown at special airshows, and in 1999 an event like this will be held at the Dutch Air Force base at Volkel on 2nd & 3rd of June.
The Chairman of the project is Wim van Laar, and the Technical Support team, formed to provide design & construction advice and assistance for the whole project, consists of: Gerald Rutten, Richard Branderhorst and Evert Jesse. All the jet aircraft in the "PHantasy in Blue" project are powered by AMT Pegasus or Olympus turbines.
So far 6 jet aircraft have been completed and all have flown execpt for the F104 which only has taxi tests recently, and these are shown below:
North American Sabre F-86K
